I have completed a Rosewood/Lutz Dred for a client and am very happy with the look and sound. It has decent string balance up the neck with good highs and is not too boomy. It was built with hide glue and I’m getting more convinced that HHG does put a little “edge “ on the sound.
I also competed # 30 and 31. A Mahogany/Sitka OM and a Rosewood/Lutz Parlor. They will ship for finish in a couple of days and should be at The Podium by early February or late January. The parlor will be my first with Rosewood and Lutz. I have high Hopes.
I’ll be taking a little break from guitars to work on some Christmas presents I’m building but will be starting a new batch shortly. There is a Mahogany/Italian spruce OM at The Podium now, check it out!

Stay tuned and Merry Christmas!

My wife gave me this sign for Christmas. She is an antique dealer and found it at her store. Makes me feel like I’m running with the big dogs now.

Still waiting for a couple of Podium guitars to come back from finish. Started two that will be my “201K” models (Or the Depression Dred and OM). Grade I Sitka and Indian Rosewood, and simple appointments. Nitro on the body and an Oil finish on the neck. They should be great sounding and playing instruments at a lower price.
The shop has also been occupied by a more important project for a very special young lady. This has turned into a lot more work than I thought but it’s moving along nicely.
February
Well more time out of the shop. Eight days with some brand new twin girls. Born to my youngest son Matt and his wife Chandra. Matt was the one that got me started in this business. He built a Martin kit in 1997 when he was in grad school and gave it to me. It was, and still is, a great sounding guitar. I was amazed. That same year he gave me an OM kit and I’ve been hooked ever since.
